Instagram brings back the magic of sharing music with Spotify

Meta is testing a new feature that lets Instagram users continuously share what they are listening to on Spotify, bringing back a social experience similar to Facebook's integration in 2011. This feature, alongside the recent launch of Music On Profile which lets users add a song to their profile, aims to bring music listening back into the spotlight as a way to interact on social media.
According to Music Ally, the updates began with Music On Profile and its test version in Brazil, Colombia, Great Britain, Japan, Thailand, India and Indonesia. Developer Alessandro Paluzzi was the first to spot this new Instagram feature, sharing a screenshot on Threads that caught the tech world's attention. Now, from your Instagram account, you will be able to choose your favourite song and a 30-second clip to play on your profile.
How will the new update work?
While Music On Profile focuses on a song that represents the user, the next step will let users automatically share what they are listening to on Spotify with their Instagram followers in real time, without having to do anything else.
Why does it matter?
For artists and creators, this integration offers a powerful tool to increase the visibility of their music. Sharing in real time allows for a more direct and authentic connection with followers, while Music On Profile offers a way to personalise the visitor experience by showcasing the music that best represents you or that you are promoting.
At MusicAdders, we understand the importance of these tools. Our experience in digital distribution and playlist placement helps you make the most of these features, ensuring that your music is not only heard but also connects deeply with your audience.
