MusicAdders at BIME Bilbao 2025: taking the pulse of the music industry

Bilbao once again became the meeting point for those whose work revolves around questions about the present and future of music. Over four days, BIME Bilbao 2025 brought artists, labels, aggregators, distributors, promoters, platforms, cultural professionals and students together in one space: Palacio Euskalduna.

BIME has always had this distinctive quality: it is not a trade fair for “showcasing”, but a place for conversation. Nothing is fully settled, yet everything is happening. MusicAdders embraced that atmosphere, attending this year with a clear aim: to observe changes in the sector up close, strengthen professional relationships and find new ways to support labels and artists in an ecosystem that changes every day.

This year's panels and roundtables focused on issues that directly affect an aggregator's work: agreements with platforms, new dynamics in digital rights, the real impact of data on emerging careers, the ongoing debate around visibility and oversaturation, and the relationship between creativity and algorithms. There were also discussions on sustainability, artificial intelligence, sync licensing, international expansion and new narratives around music consumption. One point shared by almost every conversation was the idea that releasing music today requires a clearer, more honest and more human framework.

In this context, MusicAdders' presence had a twofold value. On the one hand, it helped strengthen professional connections with the labels, managers, producers and curators attending the event. On the other, it provided space to listen directly to the concerns of independent artists and labels who stopped by to discuss releases, strategy and planning, or simply to gain a better understanding of how the digital distribution chain works from the inside.

The event also offered a chance to take the pulse of the industry's current concerns. Most professionals agreed that 2025 is a turning point for streaming: more competition, more artists releasing music, more AI tools and a growing urgency to stand out without losing authenticity. This conversation is essential for MusicAdders, whose aim is to help artists and labels navigate precisely this landscape, combining technology, personal support and clear processes.

Taking part in BIME 2025 left us with more than contacts and business cards. It left us with a sense of community, of belonging to a sector that continues to debate how it wants to organise itself and where it wants to grow. For MusicAdders, it was an opportunity to position itself not only as a music distributor, but as another part of an ecosystem that increasingly needs more bridges, more dialogue and more transparency.

Bilbao brought another vibrant edition to a close, full of conversations that will continue through emails, video calls and future projects. MusicAdders returns convinced that being part of the conversation — observing, listening and putting forward ideas — is an essential part of its commitment to music and the people who create it.
